Landmark Partnership Set to Transform Sunrise Mall: Citrus Heights Unveils Sunrise Sports Center with The Mettle Shop and Tallen Capital Partners
Citrus Heights, CA — The City of Citrus Heights is pleased to announce a proposed landmark partnership with The Mettle Shop and Tallen Capital Partners to bring the Sunrise Sports Center to Sunrise Mall, launching the first major development under the Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan. In this collaboration, Tallen Capital Partners will acquire the portion of Sunrise Mall currently owned by Namdar Realty Group, assuming the role of majority owner and developer for the project. The Mettle Shop will acquire the necessary land to construct the new sports center, anchoring the development and serving as a catalyst for sustained activity, growth, and future regional investment. This strategic partnership underscores each organization’s dedication to revitalizing Sunrise Mall into a vibrant community destination.
The Sunrise Sports Center will introduce a state-of-the-art, 160,000-square-foot sports facility on an 11-acre site. At its core is a 4,000-seat multi-use arena designed to host sporting events, concerts, and more. The center will feature two NHL-sized ice sheets and multi-use turf fields, establishing a premier destination for athletes, families, and visitors, and offering a wide range of recreational and entertainment opportunities.

Tallen Capital Partners, a well-respected, national markets investor and developer with offices in Mill Valley, Del Mar, and Carmel, Indiana, is currently in the process of acquiring the Sunrise Mall and brings a strong portfolio of destination retail centers and mixed-use development expertise to the project. “We recently completed the development and disposition of our iconic See’s Candies Flag Ship asset and we have enjoyed several decades of experience in this robust marketplace,” Tallen Capital Partners CEO Terrance Tallen stated, “We are committed to fostering exceptional shopping, collegiate football and regional sports facilities, dining and entertainment destinations and bringing long-term, innovative concepts to life. Adopted unanimously in 2021 after years of community input and strategic planning, the Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan reimagines the 100-acre Sunrise Mall site. The Sunrise Sports Center, the first project under the Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan, will spur future investment and mixed-use development.
