(WXIN/WTTV) — When flames gutted an abandoned Marsh Supermarket at Irvington Plaza over the weekend, it partially scrapped the plans of a developer trying to inject new life into the mostly dead 16-acre site on E. Washington Street.

”We had planned to keep the former Marsh,” said Terry Tallen of Tallen Capital Partners. “We were working with the successor company to Needler’s Market which is called Spartan Ash which I think would be a terrific use to bring in there so maybe we can just build new for them.”

Leveling some decrepit buildings, rehabilitating others and envisioning a future for Irvington Plaza is the task ahead for Tallen who is still in talks with the Florida owner for the purchase of the mostly parking lot and mostly empty site.
